“The great thing about food memories is that they root us in a time and place, tell a story and make us all hungry.”
Rebecca Orchant sums it up well with her quote as so many of our memories revolve around food either self prepared or served to us and often as meals enjoyed with family and friends. It is no surprise then that the wonderful chefs we work with have some fascinating food memories to share with us…..
In 2013 we celebrated the heritage of Ora King and the history of salmon in the Marlborough region. We also discovered the stories of some of our favourite chefs, who revealed their favourite ‘food memories’ giving us a unique insight into what drew them to a life dedicated to creating fantastic food.
Then in 2014 and 2015 we continued this path down memory lane by inviting more of our favourite chefs to reveal their individual ‘food memento’, that special food related item which holds great significance to them. We captured these mementoes at a photo shoot at Woollaston Estate (now known as Mahana Estate) in Nelson.
