Foodies will be flocking to Wellington in July for the first in a series of degustation dinners prepared by some of the country’s best chefs.

The first of the ‘Joining Forces – Ōra King Chef Collaboration Series’ dinners is at famed Wellington eatery Logan Brown on July 6. Further events are planned in Christchurch and Auckland later in the year.

The concept is to showcase fine New Zealand dining in leading local restaurants. Joining Forces aims to highlight what can be achieved by combining fresh local produce with equally hot local talent.

The inaugural event features a collaboration between a selection of celebrated chefs who have created a special five course menu with matched wines.

Chefs participating in the series include Bradley Hornby (Arbour, Blenheim), David Griffiths (Mr D Dining, Napier), Rex Morgan (Boulcott Street Bistro, Wellington) and Shaun Clouston and Adele Hyde – Logan Brown.

Ōra King dishes feature almost exclusively and they are supported by a SILERE merino noisette from Logan Brown’s Shaun Clouston and a dessert from the same establishment.

David Griffiths is cooking Ōra King salmon with Japanese flavours while Rex Morgan’s dish is tea tree infused, Korengo seasoned Ōra KingBradley Hornby’s smoke-cured Ōra King is paired with Jerusalem artichokes, black garlic and mandarin.

Regional wine matches have been sourced from throughout New Zealand with each chef selecting a local vineyard to accompany his dish. Wines include, Mangaorapa Pinot Gris, Urlar Oak Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc, Dog Point Chardonnay, Ata Rangi Pinot Noir and to finish a Pegasus Bay Late Harvest Riesling.

Shaun Clouston says, “It will be an absolute pleasure to host this Ōra King Salmon dinner at Logan Brown. It’s also a privilege to share the kitchen with David, Brad and Rex, who respectively, are not only some of the country’s best chefs, but also mentors, colleagues and great friends of mine.”

While the menu is enticing it is also very accessible. Tickets for the Wellington event at Logan Brown are available for just $120 per person, making this one of the hottest tickets in town.
