New Zealand’s national day anniversary deserves the very best and in 2016, Waitangi Day in Auckland is being celebrated with our most premium of fish – Ōra King Salmon.
Ōra King and Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill are presenting a special lunch prepared by the restaurant’s talented head chef Thomas Barta, winner of Best Dish NZ at the Ōra King awards in October.
The five course luncheon includes Ōra King salmon, Cloudy Bay clams and silere merino lamb. It is paired with premium New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wines (Villa Maria, Ara & Giesen Wines) as a spinoff event to Sauvignon 2016, Marlborough’s International Sauvignon Blanc Celebration.
Barta’s 2015 Best Ōra King Dish NZ Flavours of the Sea also features as part of the luncheon. It comprises citrus cured Ōra King salmon, bouillabaisse jelly with crayfish, paua, clam, scampi and New Zealand seaweeds, a dish that co-judge Lauraine Jacobs described as “sensational”.
Thomas Barta says he’s both delighted and excited to recreate the dish for one day only on February 7.
